I made the decision to turn professional in 1988 and my first position was
Teaching Professional/First Assistant at Siwanoy C.C. in Bronxville, NY. After
successfully completing the necessary requirements, I became a Class A member
of the PGA in 1993. I was hired in 1993 as Head Golf Professional for Golden
Bear Golf Center at Alley Pond and continued with this company for 10 years. My
promotions with them included Head Professional/General Manager of their Randall’s
Island facility, and finally as District Manager/Director of Golf Instructions
for Queens, the Bronx and Long Island. The sites I was responsible for
included Alley Pond, Randall’s Island, the Practice Center in Farmingdale,
the executive course at The Ponds in Smithtown, and Gun Hill Range in the Bronx. In
2003 Spring Rock Golf took over the lease at Alley Pond at while I was offered
the position of Head Professional/Manager, I wanted to dedicate the entirety
of my time to teaching and refused the Managerial position. Because of
my expertise and qualifications, I was asked to oversee the other Professionals
as Director of Instruction.
Growing up in Bellerose, NY, my first love was football and I played for both
the Long Island Tomahawks and my high school team at Holy Cross in Flushing.
It was on a family trip to Cape Cod that I was first introduced to golf. Once
bitten by the golf bug, I took every opportunity I could to play at all the local
courses in the area. This included four years of Varsity Golf on both the
Holy Cross High School Team in Flushing and at the University of Tampa where
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. Competitively,
I played in all the local amateur tournaments and was multi-qualifier for the IKE,
Met Amateur, and Citi- Championship where I placed second, was five-time regional
representative for the USGA Pub Links Championship with a best finish reaching
the final 16. My competitive edge was further developed while a member
of the Men’s Club at Douglaston Golf Course where I currently hold the
course record of 62.
My outstanding teaching is understandable not only because of my ability to
customize lessons to his students, but also when you look at my impressive teaching
background. I have been certified as Instructor/Master of the connected
swing by the Colbert-Ballard school, and certified instructor by the Jack Nicklaus-Jim
Flick School. I have given over 15,000 individual lessons to all
ability levels and ages in the Tri-State area. Additionally, I have successfully
worked with people with various physical and mental disabilities. Since
1993 I have been Director of Instruction for the NYC Parks Department Junior
Golf Program and Golf Academy. I am currently working in conjunction with the
Met PGA and NYC Board Of Education on the CHAMPS Program that was developed to
introduce Golf to all middle school students. Additionally I am working
with the Met PGA and the PSAL to develop the local high school golf teams. The
schools include Bayside, John Bowne, Long Island City, Robert F. Kennedy, and
Jamaica. I also teaches the girl’s golf teams at participating schools.
Dale’s expertise includes, but is not limited to being a game improvement
